Announcement Regarding Partial Government Shutdown

Thursday, January 10, 2019

Announcement Regarding Partial Government Shutdown.

With respect to the partial government shutdown which began on December 22, 2018, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit remains open for business as usual.  While a budget for the federal courts has not been passed for this fiscal year, the courts have sufficient funds on hand to carry on normal operations through Friday, January 18, 2019.  In the event the shutdown extends past that date, our funding will be exhausted.  However, at the current time, the court anticipates that it will continue all or most operations with essential staff. We will post additional guidance on this site as it becomes available.

In light of the fact that the court's operations are not interrupted by the shutdown, filing dates are not automatically extended. If your office or agency is affected by the shutdown, we will be happy to work with you, but motions for extensions or continuances must be filed to extend due dates or continue oral argument. PACER and CM/ECF are operating as normal.

If you have any questions, or need assistance, please contact our office.
